Three Services, Each Handled from Start to Completion
Will drafting, probate filing, and living document preparation — conducted at a measured pace with a clear process and a stated fee for each.
← Back to HomeHow Each Matter Is Handled
Each service at Tegak Advocate follows the same underlying structure: an initial conversation to understand the circumstances, a drafting or documentation phase conducted in stages, and a review meeting before anything is signed or filed. The details differ between services, but the sequence — and the principle of keeping the client informed at each point — does not.
Timelines are discussed honestly from the outset. Some matters, such as probate applications, depend on court schedules and other factors outside the practice's control. Where that is the case, it is said plainly. The aim is not to reassure with numbers that cannot be kept but to give a realistic account of what to expect.
Initial Consultation
Understand the scope. Explain the process. Set realistic expectations.
Drafting in Stages
Prepared carefully, with input from the client at each meaningful point.
Review Before Signing
A dedicated meeting to read and understand before execution or filing.
Plain-Language Will Drafting
A will-drafting service centred on plain language — drafting a will that the client can read comfortably without legal background, while still being properly drawn for execution. The work includes a clear conversation about wishes, drafting in unhurried stages, and a review meeting before signing. Suitable for clients who would like their wishes documented in language that anyone in the family could later read with ease.
What Is Included
- Initial consultation on wishes and circumstances
- Drafting in plain language across one or more working stages
- Review meeting before signing to confirm everything is as intended
- Properly executed will with appropriate witnesses
- Client copy in organised format
Process Steps
- 1Consultation — gather information on estate, beneficiaries, and wishes
- 2First draft — prepared in plain language and sent for review
- 3Amendments — any changes incorporated before review meeting
- 4Review meeting — document read through and confirmed
- 5Execution — signed in the presence of appropriate witnesses
Individuals who wish to put their affairs in order and want a document written in language their family can read without difficulty. Also suitable for those updating an existing will.
Executors who have been named in a will and need to obtain a grant of probate before the estate can be administered. Also suitable for those who need guidance on what documentation is required.
Standard Probate Filing
Preparation and filing of a standard probate application for executors, conducted in a measured, unhurried way. The work covers gathering of the necessary documentation, drafting of the application, and conduct through to grant of probate. Realistic timelines are explained at the outset, and the executor is kept informed at each stage in plain language without unnecessary correspondence.
What Is Included
- Documentation checklist and guidance on what to gather
- Preparation of the probate application
- Filing at the relevant court
- Conduct through to grant of probate
- Plain-language updates at each significant stage
Process Steps
- 1Initial meeting — review the will, identify documentation needed
- 2Documentation — compile estate inventory and required certificates
- 3Application drafting — preparation of probate petition and supporting affidavits
- 4Filing — submission to the High Court
- 5Grant — receipt of grant of probate, provided to executor
Power of Attorney & Living Document Set
Preparation of a coordinated set of living documents — power of attorney, living will or advance care directive where applicable, and supporting beneficiary instructions — drafted together so they read as a coherent whole. The work is conducted patiently across more than one meeting where helpful, with each document explained in plain language so the client understands what they are putting in place and why.
What Is Included
- Power of attorney — specifying scope and conditions
- Living will or advance care directive where applicable
- Supporting beneficiary instructions
- All documents drafted together for consistency
- Explanation of each document at review meeting
Process Steps
- 1First meeting — understand circumstances, scope, and intentions
- 2Drafting — all three documents prepared together
- 3Second meeting (if needed) — review drafts, address questions
- 4Review meeting — each document explained before signing
- 5Execution — documents signed and witnessed correctly
Individuals who wish to put in place arrangements for the possibility of incapacity — naming someone to manage affairs, and setting out healthcare preferences — with each document properly drawn and understood before signing.
